Frequently Asked Questions:
This page is here to answer some common questions about what it’s like to work together and what to expect before starting therapy.
-
My approach integrates decolonial and liberatory frameworks, centering the lived experiences of BIPOC, queer, and other marginalized communities. Therapy with me is a collaborative, reflective space where we explore not only personal experiences, but also the larger systems that shape our lives.
Consistency is key — therapy works best when we both commit to showing up regularly and engaging actively in the process. -
Yes, all sessions are currently held virtually via a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform.
You’ll receive a private link before each appointment, and you can join from a confidential space using your phone, tablet, or computer.
Virtual therapy allows for flexibility while maintaining the same quality and ethical standards as in-person sessions. -
Absolutely. I adhere to HIPAA privacy standards and protect your personal information with care.
Everything you share in therapy is confidential, except in specific situations required by law — for example, if there’s risk of harm to yourself or others, or if there’s suspected abuse or neglect.
I’ll go over these limits to confidentiality in detail before we begin so you know exactly what to expect. -
My standard fee for individual therapy is $250 per 50-minute session.
I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots ($175–$225) based on financial need and availability. -
Yes, I accept Aetna insurance through Alma and provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement.
I’m considered an out-of-network provider for most insurance plans (except Aetna clients seen through Alma). This means that clients pay me directly for sessions and may be able to receive partial reimbursement from their insurance company.
If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill — a detailed receipt with the information your insurance company needs to process claims. You can submit this directly to your insurer for reimbursement.
It’s a good idea to call your insurance company before starting therapy and ask:
“Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?”
“What percentage of each session is reimbursed, and what is my deductible?”
“Where do I send a superbill?”
If you’re using Aetna through Alma, billing is handled directly by Alma and you’ll only be responsible for your copay or deductible according to your plan.

Your session time is reserved just for you. Because I hold a limited number of client slots each week, I ask for at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session.
Since I don’t check email on weekends, weekends aren’t counted toward the 48-hour window.
That means Monday sessions must be canceled or rescheduled by the Thursday prior, and Tuesday sessions by Friday.Late cancellations (under 48 hours’ notice) or no-shows will be charged the full session fee.
However, I understand that life happens. Each client receives one “freebie” per quarter — meaning once every three months, you can miss or reschedule a session with less than 48 hours’ notice without a charge.
This policy is designed to balance flexibility and fairness while respecting the time we’ve both committed to your care. Repeated cancellations or missed sessions may be a signal that it’s time to pause or reassess readiness for ongoing therapy.

Most clients meet weekly, especially at the start of therapy. This allows us to build trust and momentum.
Over time, we may adjust frequency based on your needs and goals.
Therapy is an ongoing process rooted in trust, curiosity, and consistency. My work supports people who are interested in deeper, longer-term engagement rather than short-term, solution-focused therapy. -
That’s okay, we can talk about it!
In our consultation, we’ll explore what you’re looking for and whether my approach is a good fit.
If we decide it isn’t the right time or match, I can refer you to trusted colleagues or community-based options that align with your needs and resources. -
You can reach out via my contact form!
From there, we’ll schedule a brief consultation to discuss what brings you to therapy and what you’re hoping to work on.
If we decide to move forward, I’ll send intake forms, consent documents, and a secure link for our first session.
